Week 11: HR Legal Compliance & Team Building

Expanding your startup management team and hiring your first employees are critical milestones. Building a great workplace culture and hiring your first employees are critical to business success.

Dorsey & Whitney will outline how to maintain compliance with HR legal requirements under startup fiscal and resource constraints. Swift HR will then walk you through assessing your talent needs, building the workplace culture you desire and interviewing to hire the right people.

Please come to the webinar prepared to discuss:

  • Identify the initial responsibilities you will need your next team members to take care of for you.
  • Describe your culture (your current one or the one you’d like the organization to represent going forward). Things to think about when describing your culture:
    • Why do you do what you are doing?
    • What are your organization’s values?
    • What is unique about your approach to solving the problem your organization is working on?
    • \What does it look and feel like to work for the organization?
  • Think about your best and worst interview experiences as a candidate. What distinguishes those experiences from all the others?

You will also begin work on your customer discovery report, which is part of the final due-diligence packet to be turned in at final evaluations. Customer discovery reports are a two-page outline of the customers you interviewed throughout the accelerator process. Be sure to outline:

  • Who did you talk to?
  • How many interviews were held?
  • What insights did you gain?
  • What feedback did you implement?
